My gas gauge always shows empty even when I fill it up.why

What is your question?

My gas gauge is not working even with a full tank it reads empty and I looked under my the other day and now there are three wires hanging from my car by the gas tank and now I have to turn my key to crank it ,it turns over but want start now I have to switch key back and fore so my fuel pump will kick on or prime up just to crank what was connected to those wires
