Yes it can. Had a previous Ford product have the starter stay engaged after starting the engine...starter could not keep up and ruined a beautiful wiring harness and more. Luck was on my side and the back feed from the stuck starter separated the battery plates and the short stopped there. Battery, harness, starter, a few various rubber vacuum lines needed to be replaced. 3 Limos
