Buying Lincoln VIII with problems for $2500

I have a 93 Mark 8. Bought it 10yrs. ago for $14,000. Since then I have put over $15,000 into it and I still need to replace the free-on and starter cylinder. It has 110,000 miles on it also. All I can say is good luck, parts and labor are expensive just because it is a Lincoln. It seems as soon as I fix one thing, something else breaks down. It's a great ride, if you can afford to keep it running.

I'd be a little concerned that it has been "chipped". That may mean that it's been driven really hard. Sounds like there's been quite a bit of good maintenance work done, but if you're serious, I'd have a technician inspect it and give you his opinion. Have an expert put his hands on the car and tell you what needs to be done. Buying a car with problems is a little risky, especially one that is this old. If you're looking reliability for this price, you may want to look at late nineties Honda Accords.

If your looking for a car that wont nickle and dime you, than avoid this car!!! it's a very problematic model!!!

I have one with 300'000 miles on it. Nothing major to change during the 15 years but remember there is air ride suspision on this car, very expensive to fix. The engin is italian and actually very high end for a lincolin so that would be the reason for the high cost to fix, very close tolerances. If the guys has chipped it, then he has already run this car into the ground and knows there is something wrong.

This car for your children to drive is the biggest mistake of your life. I bought this car in 2006 with appox. 78K beautiful condition. My son burned and his girlfriend burned in this car less than three months later. This car carries defects in the design that can and may catch fire at any time. The cruise control switch recall was just one of the problems that this car has with potential fire risk.

There is NOTHING cheap on this car.
