one of my customers put a car vent clip in his car and said the clip leaked and the .28fl oz inside of it, leaked down his IP and into the navigation system thus causing the system to malfunction. Can liquid actually leak into a navi system and cause issues like this? Particularly less than an ounce of fluid?

One would think minor fluid spills would have been considered by the manufacturer - however if this fluid actually entered the system then absolutely it could cause problems. No way to determine without disassembly by qualified personnel. Just a thought but I'd TEST all of the fuses.
