My four coils keep going

It's hard to say for sure, but it does sounds like your "chain like sound" could be spark knock, "pinging" -- due to a timing issue or engine performance issue affecting engine timing. Regarding smoke coming out of the tailpipe -- hard to address not knowing the color of that smoke. What test is being performed that condemns the coils?
