What is your question?
I am being told by a dealership that somehhow a delete thats downstream of a cat somehow affected my converter and clogged/fried it. They refuse to send proof and havent found a reason why they are just saying thats the reason why. I dont understand since deletes reduce backpressure and give less restricted airflow which actually improves the car not hurts it. I havent had a single check engine light pop up, my cars self diagnoses states my emissions and oil are okay and nothings wrong with them. I believe personally its a cvt slip but they keep arguing. So my question is can a cat convert be fried due to muffler & resonator delete

Hello, I’m Pete from the Car Genius team at RepairPal. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this concern on your Kia. The delete can cause a loss of back pressure and in some cases that back pressure helps aid the catalytic converter to operate efficiently and perform its job properly. If the back pressure is missing this could cause the catalytic converter to heat up hotter than it should which in turn can damage the honeycomb structure inside of it. I recommend asking for pictures of the damage again, ask if they have any way they can prove that is the cause before spending the money having it repaired. If needed in many cases you can get another opinion from another repair facility to see what they come up with as the cause. If the other facility says the same, then most likely that is the repair that is needed.
