New to the Jeep. If I leave the Jeep running when I run into the gas station (example), with the key fob in my pocket. Someone tries to steal the Jeep, what happens? I have heard; A) They can drive it but not over 30 mph. B) They'll get about 2 miles away from the fob and then stop. C) Nothing will happen, they'll drive to where they need to go & just get a new fob. D) They will get about 100 yards and it'll stop. Anyone really know?

From the shop manual: "The Sentry Key Immobilizer System (SKIS) is designed to provide passive protection against unauthorized vehicle use by disabling the engine after about two seconds of running whenever any method other than a valid Sentry Key FOB with Integrated Key (FOBIK) is used to start the vehicle. " That said, I don't know that the vehicle stalls out in 2 seconds. This is all I would suggest: 1) leaving your vehicle running while unlocked and unattended even without the key fob is not advisable and is not a method of preventing vehicle theft 2) It is not advisable to attempt driving the vehicle without the fob, as it will become unresponsive -- regardless of when. Hope this helps.
