What is your question?
I recently took the range position sensor off my 2011 jeep GC overland. Cleaned it up, put it back on. Got the 4wd low light on, couldn't turn it off so I took the sensor off again thinking it's spring loaded. Put the jeeps transfer case in N , put the sensor back on, now the transfer case red N light won't go off. Jeep moves and drives like normal but I'd rather get the light off before driving it around.
What makes this problem better or worse?
Jeep drives like normal
How long has your 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee had this problem?

I would first check for any "chassis" C diagnostic trouble codes that may be set due to the concern. This may give you clues as to what is going on. Seems to me that something isn't quite right with that sensor you speak of. If you removed it and reinstalled it and got a different -- equally faulty --- result, then I feel like it needs further troubleshooting. If you're talking about that kind of triangular shaped mode sensor, keep in mind that it must be properly indexed by aligning the arrow on the encoder shaft with the alignment mark -- as well as the dowel on the encoder to the hole in the case. www.repairpal.com/repair-shops
