My power steering fluid leaks completely out of the reservoir.. it seems to be leaking from a hose directly under the power steering pump… I was told it was the coolant hose but doesn’t the affect the coolant oil and not power steering fluid? What’s the name of the hoses under the pump and would I have to replace the entire pump?
What makes this problem better or worse?
The problem has to be fixed before I can drive it.. no power steering fluid can destroy my power steering pump and it’s difficult and dangerous to turn the wheel

Hello, I’m Pete from the Car Genius team at RepairPal. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this concern on your Jeep Grand Cherokee. A power steering leak like what you have described above can be caused by the low pressure return hose leading to the pump/reservoir itself or in some cases the other hose/pipe connection at the pump which is the pressure line leading from the pump. To me from here, this doesn't sound like a coolant hose as a coolant hose normally wouldn't create a power steering fluid leak, it sounds more like the power steering pump return hose or the power steering pump pressure line. I recommend having the power steering lines and the pump itself inspected to help pinpoint exactly where the leak is coming from. Once the leak has been located it can then be repaired to resolve this concern. This is something that in many cases is best to have inspected and/or repaired by a reputable repair facility.
