Why car shut off while driving sometimes

Sorry to hear about your issue. An engine that shuts off and then restarts right away can be cause by quite a few things. A fuel pump on its last leg, a bad crank sensor, and ignition issue. It's almost impossible to pinpoint without a hands on inspection but a good place to start would be scanning the computer for codes.
