Heater vent control switch don’t change with switch indicator it’s stuck on def.

Like I said the heater is stuck on defrost will not change when you switch it to floor or vent it stays on defrost no matter what you turn switch to. The vent indicator switch when turned don’t change it’s stuck on defrost. At one time it did change but took a few minutes and you could hear vacuuming noise could it be the control switch bad or vacuum leaks? I don’t hear any vacuum noise now it just don’t change at all it’s just stuck on defrost no matter where you turn indicator to. If you can help in anyway it would be much appreciated for the help.
