HOw much should estimate cost?

There is a knocking noise in the motor. The crank rod shaft has been ruledout. Dealership says engine must be taken apart in order to diagnose which would be three to four hours labor just to diagnose. How accurate is this?

more detail on knocking noise. Rod bearings , piston slap or both ... I have heard that some ppl thought it was engine knocking but it was loose bolts on fexplate. Have you noticed other things such as oil pressure change or over heating?
