My truck overheated tonight I put cooliant in it after it had cooled off. So when I tried to drive it was acting like it didn't Want to pick up speed and the steering wheel felt lose and when I tried to use the breaks it felt like I had no breaks and it started to overheat while driving it as well

The serpentine belt. Pop your hood you'll see where the belt was or is depending on whether it broke or not but it is in front of the engine https://goo.gl/images/bx8S8Q
What belt is that?and it would be make all those problems happen??
If the link on the new answer I posted doesn’t work type in this on google 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee belt location and there are several things you can use as a guide to help you check the belt
And yes the belt keeps your alternator charged which keeps your battery charged, it runs your water pump which keeps the engine cool, as well as the power steering pump which keeps the steering wheel easy to turn etc
