my jeep starts strong but then dies

Could be the cam shaft position sensor, i had a similar problem, the car would crank fire up and then die as the rpms settled. I couldn't get a trouble code until it completely broke and wouldn't start at all. Replace the sensor and works perfectly now. As for the gauges, maybe a short of some kind. P.S. is there a symbol of a key with a slash through it on the dash?
