So basically the computer in my jeep went out but I was changing parts before I realized that was the problem and I ended up hooking a spare battery I had up to it backwards. Then the next day my boyfriend put the original battery for the jeep back in it the right way but it was smoking and sparking and so now I'm just wondering exactly how much damage I did. Did it just burn a few wires or did I fry the whole car?

Hello, installing terminals on a battery backwards is a terrible thing that can definitely cause damage to various parts of the vehicle's electrical system. When reverse polarity happens, damage happens.Fuses typically blow, for one thing, to protect certain areas. Other components aren't so lucky. Testing is needed to find out what's going on.
