smoke under hood

I'm wondering - pure guess - if you have a transmission cooler line that has failed and is leaking fluid at the radiator? Low transmission fluid could cause poor shifting and transmission performance...as well as the smoke under the hood.

That would be my guess also, unless the temp was creeping up causing the engine to start lacking power. Need to inspect for the cause of the smoke first.
