The DIC ( driver info center ) can and does go out. Have a good shop scan it top make sure there aren't any other problems. http://repairpal.com/jeep-repair-in-lake-worth-florida
This answer pertains to a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, but may be of use for other vehicles also. Fuse and relay boxes may not always be where you expect to find them. Do your research via buying a repair manual for your vehicle or look online where I have been able to extrapolate tons of useful information saving hundreds of dollars via not taking the first word of a mechanic or dealer. Sometimes your backyard mechanic is your best friend and they most times won't rake you over the coals. Best of luck in fixing your problem. Did you check all fuses and relays? 1. Check fuses under the dash 2. Check fuse-relays in the glove box and to the right side of the glove box on some Jeeps 3. Check under the hood to the rear on the passenger side firewall fuse-relay box Many cars if not all today have fuses and relays. It is better to blow a fuse-relay or fuse and relay than it is to blow say your alternator or starter if you have a problem. That is the point of preventative maintenance. Fix before it breaks when your vehicle is not acting like it normally does, such as, it is making a new sound or the lights are flickering or the dome light went out. Check to see if it is just a bulb, is it a fuse, is it a relay or is it a real problem beyond these simple fixes? If not too familiar with all this and what fuse-relay is for what or does what- you'd be best advised to buy a book on your vehicle and look at the diagrams and they will tell you what each is for and if a fuse-relay is for more than one running service on your particular vehicle. Such as, some may put the flashers, directionals, and the radio on one fuse-relay, or the electric windows and the mirror, and dome light light may be on one. These are not exact, just examples of what may be on a single fuse-relay. GoodLuck!
