Hello, I’m Pete from the Car Genius team at RepairPal. Depending on which engine your Jeep Gladiator has in it there are a couple of different ways to change the oil for this engine. In most cases it involves draining the oil safely into a container designed to hold engine oil ensuring the container is large enough to hold the amount of oil being drained into it. There should be a drain plug at the bottom of the engine oil pan that is removed to drain the oil out until it either stops draining or drains to a small trickle. Then the drain plug is reinstalled (with a new gasket if required) and torqued to specifications, the oil filter is removed and drained and the new filter is installed lubricating the seal on the filter and ensuring the engine mating surface is clean or oil filter housing and torqued properly as well. Once that has been finished fresh engine oil can then be installed to the right amount. The engine is than ran for a short time (usually 30 seconds or less will do) and then the areas checked for any leaks, the oil level can then be checked after a few minutes of sitting in the off position to make sure the oil level is at the correct level. If you feel uncomfortable doing the oil change yourself it may be best to allow a repair facility to perform the needed oil change for you as sometimes this is the best route for a proper oil change and ease of mind.
