From a fully charged battery flat after driving then parking happens often?

Using a multimeter, what is the voltage on the battery posts while the car is running? Should be somewhere around 14vdc. If it's 12vdc or lower and dropping, your charging circuit is not working. Is the battery light showing on the instrument cluster?
