What is your question?
Sos not avail message. Popped up. Took veh to repair shop to have brakes replaced (work out back brake pads etc. mechanic stated diameter of brake pad and parts were off and could not replace brakes. Adv didn’t do anything to veh. When tot start vehicle and has to pump brakes a few times to build up pressure before veh started. Drove to work and came out to start car- would not start. Tool to repair shop- mechanic adv Communication module was determined to be fried after diagnostic. Provider adv that was the only error message now after replacing the comm module, mechanic stating there are other modules fried. Says car now turns on but won’t start. Does this sound normal? Shouldn’t the diagnostic have picked up the other fried modules?

Hi, my name is Devin. I am an auto repair expert with the Car Genius team here at RepairPal. I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with your vehicle. It sounds like you're dealing with a complex electrical issue in your XE. When a communication module fails, it can sometimes cause a cascade of issues in the network of modules, leading to multiple failure codes. Although a diagnostic scan usually reveals all current issues, sometimes, not all affected modules communicate their faults right away, especially if a primary communication module is down. Once the initial module was replaced, the system could start detecting other problems, as it can now connect to the network entirely. The mechanic's assessment seems reasonable, given the way electrical systems can behave. Still, it may be beneficial to get a second opinion, especially with a highly specialized vehicle like the XE. If you need more advice, have any other questions about your vehicle, or would like to get connected to a RepairPal Certified shop near you, we have you covered.
