Hello, sounds like the latch is binding for some reason; perhaps some object is trapped in there? With care and caution, and use of trim tools, you may be able to coax it open to see what is going on -- without breaking it. However, a 14 year old vehicle has plastic that becomes brittle - so fracturing might be inevitable. www.repairpal.com/repair-shops
