Restrictive performance light keeps coming on and off intermittently. What does it mean?

Did you ever get an answer for this? We have a 2002 model with the same problem. We've had the electronics reset but it keeps going back to restrictive performance mode and the engine will not rev fully. It appears to be on valet mode. We don't know how to fix it.
