What is your question?
I have had a recurring problem with the engine light coming on. I take it to Hyundai service, they can't determine the problem....on and on! The light has been off for several months and came on again today. I took it to a local national brand auto supply outlet and they hooked up their little meter. Here are the codes they found: P1166 & P1167 "manufacturer control, fuel air metering." Can anyone tell me what this means and how to fix it? Hyundai guessed it could be anything from oxygen sensors, to catalytic converter, to bad gas...... I don't have the money to go with the "trial & error" approach.

a real diag is required to track down these codes. a free code pull tells you nothing but a direction to go to for the issue. you need to go either to another dealer or a shop that can determine the issue for you. it wont be free. i would also contact hyundai customer service about the dealer that could not help you. Hi Roy, We do plan on taking the car to another mechanic, but it won't be for a couple of weeks. We're fulltime RV'ers (towing the Hyundai) and presently in GA heading for FL.Once we get to FL we'll be staying put for a while and have it diagnosed. FYI: It has been to THREE Hyundai dealers in the last 3 months and no one (Ocala, FL - Chattanooga, TN - Goshen, IN ) could give me a definitive diagnosis. All they could do was start replacing parts and hope they find the right one! We've already spent hundreds of $$$$$ replacing the fuel filter, fuel pump and camshaft sensor. Can you suggest how to find an expert emissions tech? Haven't had much luck with Hyundai service as yet. Thank you for your response. Joe
