Car stalled out 2x, both on hot 100+ degree days. Vapor lock or fuel pump/filter?

I'm getting mixed answers. Is there a replaceable fuel filter for this model and if so where is it located. I'm told it's in the fuel tank. The dealer wouldn't change it out at 15,000 miles, the guy said it's in the tank and we dont mess with it until it goes out. But I'm told its only a screen located in the tank and there is nothing to change? Anyone else have this issue. No check engine light came on either time the car stalled. Mileage.. 115,000.
