why is my Hyundai Entourage overheating?

My car is overheating and smoking, what could be the problem? I noticed it overheating yesterday, I checked the coolant and the reservoir was empty. I refilled the resvoir with coolant, took it for a drive and after 30 minutes it started to overheat. After returning home I popped the hood and it was smoking.

What makes this problem better or worse?

its worse after it has been driven for 30-45 minutes.
