What is your question?
'08 Yukon Denali AWD with 98,000 miles- (driven less than 9000 miles since I purchased it 26 months ago.). A mechanic says it needs the same repair that it had on 10/21/22, only 13 months and 3000 miles ago. The repair was: Brake System (Complete) Remove and Replace - FRONT [Includes Perform ABS Automated Bleed procedure.] [Includes: Replace Calipers and Pads. Clean, lube and/or replace necessary Brake Hardware.] Is this a normal yearly repair for an '08 Yukon Denali? I drive very defensively and normally do not speed or brake hard. The brakes squeak, a little, upon pressing the pedal, but only when I first start driving and the next few blocks down the road. And the squeak is not heard every time I drive the vehicle, but about 40%-50% of the time. And, they only squeak during the very beginning of those trips. We live in a high desert location where it's very sandy, very sunny and often very windy. The vehicle is parked outside, in the elements,100% of the time.
What makes this problem better or worse?
It seems to happen during the first few miles of some trips, usually during or after very windy weather.
How long has your 2008 GMC Yukon XL 1500 had this problem?
Approx. 6 months, off and on.

Hi, my name is Devin. I am an auto repair expert with the Car Genius team here at RepairPal. It's unusual for brakes to need a complete replacement after just one year and 3,000 miles unless there's an underlying issue. Brake pads and calipers typically last much longer, especially if you're driving defensively and not braking hard. Given the weather conditions, the sand and dust could be causing a squeaking noise from your brakes. There are many reasons why your brakes may squeak, even if your brake pads are not getting low. If the problem persists, having your Yukon checked out by a reputable mechanic may be best.
