Can drive for 8 miles in first doing 30

I have 2002 Yukon xl my transmission act up because I was being driving with no fluid it's full now but it's the solenoid that are bad it's not down shifting so I can drive but I would can drive in 1 gear at around 2000 to 2500 rpm for 8 miles without cause any more damage
