2005 GMC Sierra with Duramax. Keep getting P0182-Fuel Temp Sensor A Circuit Low on my DTC. This comes both as a DTC and a pending code. When this occurs, the engine sputters or hiccups between 2200 and 2500 RPMs. Has anyone had a problem like this? Also where is the fuel temps sensor A located?

FUEL RAIL TEMPERATURE (FRT) SENSOR REPLACEMENT REMOVAL PROCEDURE Remove the intake manifold cover. Loosen the charged air cooler inlet duct connector to turbocharger clamp (1). IMPORTANT: After removing the charged air cooler duct, cover the turbocharger openings with tape in order to prevent entry of objects. Do not use a screwdriver or other tool to pry the hose loose. The hose can be torn or damaged. Loosen the hose by twisting. Remove the charged air cooler inlet duct connector (4) from the turbocharger. Disconnect the fuel temperature sensor electrical connector. Remove the fuel temperature sensor. INSTALLATION PROCEDURE Install the fuel temperature sensor. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions. Tighten the sensor to 22 N.m (16 lb ft) . Connect the fuel temperature sensor electrical connector. Remove the tape from the turbocharger openings. Install the charged air cooler inlet duct connector (4) to the turbocharger. Tighten the charged air cooler inlet duct connector to turbocharger clamp (1). Tighten the clamp to 6 N.m (53 lb in) . Install the intake manifold cover. Prime the fuel system. Refer to Fuel System Priming. Start the engine. If the engine stalls, repeat the above step. Once the engine starts, inspect for fuel leaks. hope this helps Roy
Thanks. Does the sputtering seem to be related to this issue, in your opinion?
i dont believe so. it could be a injector fault. the fact that the code comes back immediately tells me you have an electrical issue. hope the sensor takes care of it but make sure the harness does not have any bare wires anywhere. Roy
Ok. One more question. I have an auto start. the code only seems to come on when I use the auto start. I could go three weeks with a key start and not have a problem After 3 or 4 auto starts it seems to appear. have about a 15 sec delay on the start. Any relation or just coincidence?
should have a delay due to glow plugs. could be that they tied into a harness that they should not have disturbed. did you have it installed?? if you did, return to the installer and ask him about his installation. Roy
I did have it installed. I will take it back. Thanks for all your help. Also, with the sputtering, It is very intermittent. I would mostly see it when I would tow by 31 ft trailer. It would not happen at first, but once the trans temp got up to about 200 degrees, I would see the problem. I recently replaced all trans fluid and filters. The next step is a fuel filter. On the right track?
