Under the electrical/lights section I have the problem of the speedometer reading incorrectly. I have a 2003 gmc 2500 HD with 55,000 miles. The dealer wants $425.00 to replace the stepper motor. Is any of this covered under recalls??

nope no recalls for speedo assembly. price actually sounds good. Roy
yes the whole speedometer should be replaced all gauges and everything for free with the recall
I had the same problem with all my gauges not working in my truck. fortunately for me there is a guy in town here that replaces all the gauge motors and it works perfect again. a new gauge cluster cost 400-1200 bucks from gm, but if your truck has less than 75k, Gm will replace it for free. Check with thegaugeguy.com and see if he can help you. He charged me $150 to replace all of my gauges
This is very common on the 03-06 GMs. The cause is the motors behind the gauges are failing, they all go out eventually. You can get it repaired here - www.drspeedometer.com and there's a DIY guide here - www.howtorepairmyinstrumentcluster.com
There is nothing wrong with your cluster its bad programing inside of it. Had over 12 different clusters in one truck all under warranty!
