Hello, Dave here, contributing to RepairPal and providing expert advice since 2010. Diagnostic trouble codes provide clues to help a technician figure out what is happening to the vehicle when a running concern for warning light happens. Testing is performed on various components based on symptoms and diagnostic trouble code retrieval. If the IAT sensor information is showing to be of concern, it may not be the IAT sensor in question, but information provided to the IAT sensor from other components. If I had a vehicle that was slow to start and idled rough, I would be checking air and fuel mixtures - making sure there was no air intake leak. For rough running I would check for potential engine misfires and look to resolve those in the fuel or ignition area. Codes for IAT sensor performance are listed in the workshop manual with test routines related to them.
