What is your question?

I have a 1999 GMC seirra with a 5.3 out of a 2001 Silverado and the 4wd selector switch is dim but cant switch in or out of whatever it's in and the service 4wd light is on the dash any help would be useful

What makes this problem better or worse?

It's the same cold or running temperature

When did this problem start occurring? The Service 4WD light indicates diagnostic trouble codes are stored -- likely chassis "C" codes that require a diagnostic tester capable of retrieving body and chassis codes to troubleshoot. If the problem started directly after powertrain replacement, I would suspect some kind of wiring concern or incompatibility issue. Just a guess.
