I need to change the flywheel on my GMC Savana 1500. Are there any schematics that show how to do this? thanks.

the trans has to be separated from the motor enough to gain acess to the flywheel. this is very tough to do at home as you need to drop crossmembers and support the engine and trans. have a shop give you a bid. try our estimator tab and directory tabs at the top for a shop near you. Roy
Not that bad as I believe you have the lighter trans. Earlier answer is correct in that you must disconnect all wiring to tranny, the shift cable at the tranny, the dipstick tube, then block the back of the engine up. Then pull out the crossmember that hold the rear of the tranny, then you block or jack under the tranny with no pressure than unbolt the tranny from the motor, pull it back and it should go free on your tranny jack or block. I bought a rectangle piece of steel from a big tranny shop that fits on a standard Jack and fits on the bottom oil pan of both automatic trans.... Be sure to jack van up high enough first and support on jack stands. Really not lotsa bolts. I swapped a bigger stronger 4L80e in place of the weak 4L60e that kep blowing out on us. Once you have the tranny out, you can unbolt the flywheel and replace. I think you may need to pull flex plate off flywheel first. You also will remove drive shaft by u bolting from rear end. Hope this helps! Make sure van us high enough so you can slide tranny out of the way to work on flywheel. I recommend replacing rear crank seal while you have the tranny off.
Thanks Roy!
