How does the steering wheel come off

Hi, my name is Devin. I am an auto repair expert with the Car Genius team here at RepairPal. I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with your vehicle. Replacing the ignition lock on your G2500 involves removing the steering wheel, which is straightforward but requires care. First, disconnect the battery to deactivate the airbag system if equipped. Remove the horn pad or airbag by unscrewing it from the back, then disconnect any wiring. Using a steering wheel puller, detach the wheel from the column. Beneath the wheel, you'll see the lock cylinder housing. Depress the retaining pin or screw holding the cylinder in place and slide it out. Install the new cylinder by aligning it and pushing it into position until it clicks. Reassemble the components in reverse order, ensuring everything is secured. If you need more advice, have any other questions about your vehicle, or would like to get connected to a RepairPal Certified shop near you, we have you covered.
