Having problems with all wheel drive and making noises

So when i put my vehicle from 2wd to all wheel drive the other day pulling into my driveway it stalled on me and also i feel a difference in the way it drives and feels its not smooth anymore its kinda jerky and makes a whistle sound when its in all wheel drive what could be the cause of all this and if u had this problem what did u do too fix it
