THE DIP STICK TUBE HAS RUSTED OFF THE ENGINE. HOW MUCH WILL IT COST TO REPLACE. I HAVE HEARD THAT IF THEY CAN FIX IT WITHOUT REMOVING THE OIL PAN IT WILL BE CHEAPER.

It shouldn't be too much to reapair the dipstick tube, I'd guess at one hour labor if there are no problems. Normally you don't have to remove the oil pan. The tube goes in from above and is secured on the outside of the engine. The difficulty could be in removing the rusted stub from the block. That could be easy or hard. If you have to drive the remains into the pan you may want to remove the pan to clean up the bits and pieces. Just depends on how the job goes.
wow really? i got a quote from the gmc dealer that it could be a 5 hour job. do you disagree?
