Headlights flash on and off, go off for 30 seconds then luckily back on.

The first time it happened the lights flashed on and off several times then went off altogather. I switched to high beams and they came back on. The next night the same thing happened but after I switched to high beams they went off all the way for 30 seconds then came back on. It seems to be getting worse as each incident happens. I don't know if it is a relay problem or what?

I'm thinking that your headlight switch could be at fault. There is a good amount of power that goes through that switch, and sometimes the wiring can get burnt or the wiring connector may melt. I would suggest pulling the switch out of the dash and inspecting the switch and the wiring.
You were right! That is exactally what it was. Chevy wanted to sell me a new switch for $96 and I ended up getting one from O'Reilly for $12.. Thanks!
