What is your question?
I have a 1997 gmc suburban 5.7L. It runs rough when I start it and almost dies when I put it in gear. But it seems to run ok as long as I'm giving it gas but as soon as I let off it starts running rough again
What makes this problem better or worse?
When I give it gas it seems to get better
How long has your 1997 GMC C1500 Suburban had this problem?
Not to sure, I got this thing on Craig’s list

Hello, Check your idle air control valve for clogs/carbon buildup. It only works at idle, and it only lets in enough air to allow the engine to run when the throttle body is closed.
I did that and still nothing. I put a fuel pressure regulator on it and now it won’t even start
Hi, sorry for the delay. The fuel pressure regulator is a pretty in depth job, so there are lots of places where mistakes can be made. If you didn't replace gaskets and clean thoroughly while you were in there, it is most likely you can't get it to start due to severe vacuum leaks. Really, that is not a job I would recommend for most to do at home. I recommend tracing back through every step to ensure that things were removed, replaced, and installed correctly, and that everything went back in clean and with new seals. That being said, it would surprise me if this was a fuel issue. Demand for fuel is low when the engine is at idle, but high anytime you press the accelerator pedal. If it runs well when pressing the accelerator, it is likely not a fuel issue. Scan for trouble codes as well. The engine control module may have a story to tell.
