gmc suburban stuck in park

So I have a 1996 GMC suburban that is stuck in park. I removed the lock solenoid from under the dash that stops you from shifing without pushing the brake, i replaced the nuetral safety switch on the transmission, i tried rocking the truck back and forth and nothing is working.. any ideas on what may be causing this? It has been getting a little sticky taking it out of park over the last couple of weeks until now
