possible, but not likely. assume nothing until you have diagnosed the problem. if you smell gasoline, this could be extremely dangerous. suggest finding a good local shop diagnosing this for you.

May not even be fuel related. Ignition modules go out all often. When was the last tune up? Check for fuel leaks before driving it!
