The heater core is located behind the dashboard of the vehicle, but for flushing purposes, the inlet and outlet hoses are located at the firewall at the back of the engine compartment on the passenger side. Your concern may or may not be related to a restriction - I would imagine it's related to cooling system temperature more than a restriction, but checking for flow is part of the diagnostic process.
