Hi, this is Bo, an auto expert on RepairPal's Car Genius team! It sounds like your 2005 Ford Freestyle might be dealing with a fuel or ignition issue. The fact that it starts but shuts off right away—especially if it starts fine after resting for a bit—points to a few likely suspects. A faulty **fuel pump**, **fuel filter**, or **crankshaft position sensor** could cause the engine to start but immediately stall. If the fuel pump isn’t delivering enough fuel, or the sensor isn’t giving the right signal, the engine will lose power quickly. It’s also possible there could be an issue with the **ignition coil** or a problem with the **idle air control valve** that’s preventing it from staying running when you let off the gas. If this continues, I’d recommend getting it checked by a mechanic to avoid causing more damage, especially if it's a fuel-related issue.
