Wrench light sporadically turns on then car wont shift, high rpm.

About a week ago i put gas in my car and when i started my 2007 ford five hundred the wrench light was on. I got on the road and it would not speed up past 30ish mph and was pumping out 3-4000 rpms. The day I take a look at it and the wrench light is off and when i took it for a 30 minute test drive it worked fine. Later the same day I go to start it and the wrench light is back on and I have the same problem.
