What is your question?
Every site I go to tells me the AC compressor is bad i my 2005 Ford Five Hundred. Dealers and shops only will replace the whole system (Compressor, o-rings, Expansion valve, etc) They will not take out te compressor control valve. Probably becasue of monhey invlved. I need to know where the compressor is located and how to get to it. I saw where the valve is on the backside of the compressor secured by 2 bolts. System must be evacuated before attempting to pull the valve. One guy said it took him 30 minutes to do so it must be fairly easy to get to.

Hello this is DR.RECO the a/c compressor is located on the pass.side of the engine right in front behind the radiator and it should not take more than 30mins.after the a/c freon has been evacuated.have a bless day!
I am a retired mechanic of 50 yrs., worked on many AC problems, i just bought a used Ford Five Hundred with high mileage, very well kept, but AC warm unless you stepped on gas, seller showed me maint. records & i could see a span of 4 yrs. with AC work including Compressor with all trimming & still has a problem, i told seller to change valve on compressor which cost him $27 plus cost to evacuate & re-charge & he says it never was as cold & i bought the car PS compressor change was by a Ford dealer.
I am having the same problem with my 2006 Ford Five Hundred. Where (recommendations Please!) do I get the freon evacuated? Do I just tell them to remove freon...bc I am sure they are going to want to diagnosis themselves, etc. Thanks
Thanks for your help. I found a guy locally who would remove and hold R134a until I replaced the valve. He wouldn't replace it because he didn't believe that would fix the problem. It took me and a friend about 15 minutes to get the old valve out and replace it. The new valve solved the warm a/c problem. It is actually colder now than it had been the last 2 years. Thanks to everyone who gave tips on this issue. Ford should put out a service bulletin on this and replace the valves for free when they go at 60-70,000 miles. Mine had 72,000 on it when it failed. It probably was going earlier than that but my wife never said anything. If you can't find someone to evacuate your system and refill it I would just let it go into the atmosphere and refill with new R134a from Autozone. Getting to the refill valve is a little tight but doable. You want to evacuate the system to make sure their is no air in it. In Cincinnati area I would go to Jose's Auto Service in Fairfield. He is a good mechanic and very reasonable. He won't replace the valve though because he cannot warranty the repair in case it doesn't work. For anyone with warm air on a Ford Five Hundred I would say try replacing the Compressor Control Valve in the compressor first. All together I spent $194.00 including having the R134a checked first (that was $100.00). I could have skipped that step and went straight to replacing the valve and saved even more. To replace the compressor I got a quote of $888.00 only because I know the shop asst mgr and he was going to give me a discount.
Hello this is a great sucess and i am glad to here your a/c is working okay at this time. You can always come to this site and i will be happy to help.HAVE A BLESS DAY FROM DR.RECO
