my service engine soon light came on and i only have 1200 miles on truck. what could the problem be

the truck acted like it was losing power and then stopped and had power again. It is 6.7 Powerstroke and today as I pulled into my driveway, the engine light came on and is solid. It is a diesel and have absolutely no problems up until now. It has not made a noise and is not leaking from anywhere either.
What makes this problem better or worse?
Have not moved truck since light came on.
