hard starts on a cold engine

What is your question?

Whenever the temp is below 40 my diesel is very hard to start. I replaced the fuel filter, but that wasn't the problem. I wait until the glow plug light goes out before attemting to start. I left the key on all night a few months ago could this have anything to do with the problem? Tom
