What is your question?
Driver's side electric door lock often fails to operate. The malfuction is in the unlocking mode most of the time but from time-to-time this same door lock will fail to lock when operated via the armrest switch and/or the remote. It seems to lock most of the time when operated via remote and/or door armrest switch. The failure to unlock happens whether the armrest switch or the remote is used so the remote battery is not the problem. The passenger side door locks and unlocks via switch or remote every time, only the drivers' side door fails to operate regularly. It seems to fail to operate more regularly the more it's operated. When it does fail to lock/unlock you can see it does push up on the exposed plunger for the door lock but seems to be lacking the power to either push it all the way up or pull it all the way down enough to operate the lock/unlock. Since the problem is intermittent I hate to take the door apart only to have it operate every time I try it and I end up having to keep it tore down for an extended period of time in order to get it sorted out. Hope some of you guys can point me right to the problem before I tear anything down since I have no experience with repairing of electrical lock/window systems.

This is almost certainly caused by a weak door lock actuator (motor). The fact the other door works fine, along with the symptoms you described are pretty convincing. This is mounted by a large rivet, and often times more than one can do outside of the repair shop environment.
Thanks! How familiar are you with this particular motor and the manner in which it is mounted? I have the tools and a good degree of know-how, can this be replaced with common tools or will the replacement motor have to be riveted in place? All my riveting stuff is fairly small but if cost to have this done by others is greater than tool cost I typically elect to buy the tool(s) and try to do it myself.
Good question. If you look on the door below the latch itself, you will see a large rivet that looks almost like a bolt. This is what needs to be removed and replaced. Requires a larger than usual rivet (can purchase when you buy the part) and a larger rivet tool to install it.
Thanks for the help!
