Why do my gauges stop working then start back then stop again?

I had my spark plugs changed a week ago and some of my gauges stopped working. I took the battery cables loose and put them back and the gauges worked, then they just started going and coming at random.

A bad ground or loose connections ,a bad battery cable or loose connections at the battery,starter,or altenator.Its possible that sending unit was unplugged when changing spark plugs.
