What is your question?
Happens all the time now. When vehicle starts to over heat I here knocking in the engine and it sounds like a diesel. Does this mean a head gasket or the engine is done? Changed thermostat in 2003 ford explorer sport trac and still over heats

Hello, no, I don't see concerns with head gaskets for this 4.0L V6 SOHC engine. Assuming it's the SOHC engine and not the OHV engine. Either way, not much going on as far as head gaskets here. As far as overheating - you'll need to drill down to the root cause to find out why it's happening. Is the cooling fan working at the radiator, for example? It's too hard to know what's going on without performing a hands on assessment. When the thermostat was replaced, was all the air purged from the cooling system properly?
