Tachometer does not work . What would cause this and how to fix.

The tachometer gets the engine speed signal from the engine's processor (PCM). The information comes via wiring to the instrument cluster printed circuit. This printed circuit transmits the information to the tachometer. Possible causes of failure are wiring issues, printed circuit failure, tachometer head failure, engine processor issues. Diagnostic testing is required.
