replaced ignition lock and van still wont still wont start.

turned the key yesterday and heard an unusual "click". ignition lock seemed very loose and would not turn engine on when turn to the "on" position. when you take the key out the fuel light, engine light, digital mileage, etc remains lit. windows still roll down and radio still works...all this even with the doors open and the key out. I replaced the ignition lock but this doesn't seem to be the problem. help please.
